Canal Underpass
This is where Ripon Canal runs under the A61. I was taken by the stark, hard lines after walking along the tow path in wonderful countryside. I spotted this as a potential mono picture. All the lines take the eye to the daylight at the end of the tunnel.

This is a little bit of a different subject for me but I thought it would look good as a gritty mono conversion, so thats what I did with it!

Will rain stop play?
A heavy sky over Masham in North Yorkshire looks like it could disrupt play. I’m not sure if it did or not though because I finished up in the Black Sheep Brewery just across the road!

A chill in the air, frost on the grass and the sun rising. Winter mornings like these certainly clear the cobwebs, and look good too.

Just a photoshop composite to while away a few minutes in its creation. The poor weather conditions recently means the cameras aren’t getting much of an airing. It will soon be spring!
Anvil forming?
This looks to me as if it may be the start of an anvil forming which I ‘think’ is when the cloud rises up in the form of an anvil. I think it is a sign of stormy weather, you never know up in the dales.
It almost looks like this was taken from an aeroplane but being high(ish) up in the hills and a long(ish) focal length of 190mm gave the effect.

This cloud caught my eye due to the beauty of it’s form and when I looked at the shot on the camera back I thought it looked like a dolphin!

This is a picture I captured while out driving. Just for clarity, I did stop the car and get out to make the picture 🙂
I see skies like this as abstract images and just want to capture the shapes and textures. Annoyingly I usually see the best images when I don’t have a camera with me. I know a photographer shouldn’t get caught out in that way but well . . there’s more to life, sometimes it isn’t convenient to just pull over and break out the cameras.

I like to photograph a wide range of subjects and I take a lot of shots on impulse. One subject I take whenever the opportunity arises is clouds, in particular atmospheric skies. Here is one such sky that presented itself while the weather was taking a turn for the worse while walking on the moors in North Yorkshire UK.
