Bits ‘n Bobs

We were in a cafe in Ripon the other day for a little sustenance to fuel the rest of the shopping trip. We were seated at a table that had this wonderful little display case full of collectible bits ‘n bobs. I just loved the colour, textures and patina of the wood and to be honest the display sort of reflects my way of shooting, organised chaos resulting in a very eclectic mix.

New technology in weather analysis.

At a country store/craft shop/cafe type place just outside Thirsk in North Yorkshire we had to laugh at this sort of humour. I have now attached a small stone to a piece of chain for personal use as a pocket weather analyser. I have made the chain long enough to reach from my waistcoat pocket to the top of my head. I can take it down occasionally to check conditions 🙂

Studley Water garden

Studley water garden on the Fountains Abbey Estate is a favourite place for an afternoon stroll. Here is a view of the Octagon Tower which is situated at one end of a path with the Temple of Fame in the middle and Anne Boleyn’s seat and surprise view at the other. The path is high up in the tree line and just below the Octagon Tower you can see the entrance to the Serpentine tunnel through which you gain access the tower and path to the other two view points. From Anne Boleyn’s Seat you have a spectacular view of the Abbey. See a map here of the estate.

Goth City

At the weekend we were to be found wandering the streets of Whitby, that of Bram Stokers Dracula fame. It was a typical early autumn day, not too cold but breezy and foreboding skies. There were a few Goths about to add to the atmosphere. For a real flavour of the atmosphere that is generated when the Goths are in town you would need to be there on the Goth Weekend, October 31st – 2nd November.

Anyway here are a couple of shots I took, first one is looking out from the graveyard of St Mary’s Church, which is adjacent to the Abbey, over to the harbour walls. The second one is on the end of the outer harbour wall with a couple of hardy souls trying to catch dinner.
