This is a shot of the lighthouse at Scarborough on Yorkshire’s east coast. I was very taken by the figure in front of it and the overall symmetry of the image. I had to tidy up the image a little bit to get rid of wires, an antenna and one or two other distracting bits and pieces.

Spectacular shot – almost a montage at first glance. You’ve got the perfect POV for this. Nice work
Thanks Andy,
I have to say that at the time I was a bit annoyed that I couldn’t get the whole lighthouse in shot down to the bottom but there were benches and people there. But the happy accident that came about was that the steel girder that the figure is mounted on looks (to me) like a door in the lighthouse 🙂
Great photo, is this sculpture new? It wasn’t there last time I was in Scarborough, although it was sometime ago.
Hello Robert, glad you like the pic. When I took it I didn’t know much about it but couldn’t resist the shot when I saw it. I found the following reference to the statue, which is called the “Diving Belle”, at http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/North_Yorkshire/Scarborough-305852/Things_To_Do-Scarborough-TG-C-1.html You will need to scroll down the page a bit.
Very striking composition and mono is just the thing for it! FATman
Cheers!!
This reminds me of Salvador Dali’s painting “Crucifixion”:

Thanks for dropping by and commenting Steve. I see what you mean about the Dali picture.
